- Description
- Humpack whales migrate every year to the warm sheltered water of Tonga to mate, give birth and nurse their babies. That day we found a settled mother and calf. We quietly entered the water from a good distance and swam slowly towards them, hoping not to disturb them.
The mother was sleeping about 10 m below us. The calf came coming up for air and as time went, he started coming extremely close and showing a fair bit of interest towards us.
